I’m currently at work at the wine store, which is two blocks north of the Staten Island Ferry in the city. A young man in a suit and an older woman who looked as if she should have been sporting a belly bag come in and ask to see the Champagne. When they bring up the cheapest (still, super tasty stuff) bottle of prosecco, the older woman states it’s her treat and then goes on to tell me that this young man is about to propose to her daughter on the Staten Island Ferry(!). The unsuspecting girl is visiting her brother and the mom and future(?) fiancee came to New York from Denver to surprise her and get engaged. On the Staten Island Ferry. With a $13 bottle of prosecco.;

Call me a snob and a half, but Jeremy, if you ever do this, I might have to throw you overboard.

UPDATE! She just came in for another bottle! The other one dropped :( 4 mins til the ferry departs!
