fun. - “Light A Roman Candle With Me”
As I mentioned in a previous post, fun. is the new project from Nate Ruess of The Format, Jack Antonoff of Steel Train and Andrew Dost of Anathallo. Combing forces and creating an album complete with string flourishes, the accordion and xylophone, fun. play with different musical genres and bounce around from one decade to the next.
Not only do different musical eras influence the band, but their appreciation for Broadway musicals comes through as well. While recording some demos, the guys had a chance to check out some plays, and I think this song is an excellent example of how Broadway found its way onto this album. I can totally picture the male lead of a play confessing his love to the girl of his dreams while listening to this song. Charming, right?
Their debut album, Aim And Ignite, comes out today!
