Fences - “My Girl The Horse” (Featuring Sara Quin)
I love a song that begins with a fade-in every now and then. Not only does this track feature Sara Quin (one half of Tegan & Sara), but she also co-produced the band’s self-titled debut that was released this past September. Fences is Chris Mansfield, a Seattle native who sings his experiences through slightly mellow yet melodic indie folk. This album puts me strangely at east.

Not gonna lie though, when I saw a press photo of this dude, I was surprised he was the voice behind this music. Seattle Weekly explains it perfectly - ”Like most people with face tattoos, Chris Mansfield exudes a certain unnerving sketchiness. At first glance he looks like the type of guy who would organize a GG Allin fan club or burn down a church. In person, Mansfield is quiet and slightly aloof but personable, which makes you feel like an asshole for thinking he’d burn down a church.”
