Question(s) of the Day

This is something Jeremy and Alex and myself (along with a few others) briefly discussed over the weekend.

When it comes to decapitation, what dies first: The head or the body? Can the head have a split second to still see once detached from the body? Am I a sicko for asking this?

  1. oats answered: YES the head can see the body!
  2. daisymay answered: I think that the head stays alive a little after decapitation, though it could just be a nerve thing, something you aren’t conscious of.
  3. superdoofus-stratodrive answered: your brain may continue to see and hear and think for about 15 seconds after your head is cut off.
  4. mattlehrer answered: Completely unqualified to answer this, but yes you are a sicko. I’d say body dies first, prob some neurons still firing after last heartbeat.
